How to get from the train station to the tourist center?
Walk up from the station and onto the main road. You will then see a big brown house on the other end of the lake. This is us! It is about 900 meters to walk.

It takes about 4 hours to drive from Oslo to Haugastøl.

How late in the season is it possible to bike the Rallarvegen?
It is generally only the weather that can stop you from cycling the Rallarvegen until the middle of September. The bike-train stops in the middle of September, and makes it hard for us to get the bikes returned to us. But parts of the Rallarvegen is possible to bike up until the snow arrives.
How young can you be for cykling the Rallarvegen?
This depends from child to child, however, generally a 12 year-old would be more than fine with riding the Rallarvegen. It is the part from Vatnahalsen and down to Flåm that can be abit tricky. This area is very steep, but as long as you are aware and take your precautions and maybe even chose to walk some of the steepest bits, you should be fine.
Where to park whilst your cykling the Rallarvegen?
If you are a guest at Haugastøl Turistsenter, you are more than welcome to make use of the parking just outside the centre.
There is also a public parking just across the road from Haugastøl Touristcentre, as well as possibilities for parking at Haugastøl Train Station.
How early in the season would you recommend to ride the Rallarvegen, and how late?
We would not recommend to try to bike the entire Rallarvegen until early July due to the road normally being covered by snow up until this point. The entire road may not be possible to bike at this early stage in the season, all depending on the amount of snow we have had this winter.
If parts of the road are closed, then we will try to organize the best trip for you with transport help from the trains.
We hope the entire road will be open from mid July and onwards.
It is good possibilities to ride the entire Rallarvegen until 20th of September.

Is it possible to kite when they close the main road over the mountain?
When the wind is right, it is possible to kite on the lake just outside Haugastøl, or at some nearbylying lakes. We try to organize shuttles by bus and snow mobiles for our guests if the conditions are good, and its impossible to get to the snowkite spots by car.
How far is to the closest snowkite spot?
The closest snowkite spot is Ørteren which is only 4 km away from Haugastøl.
When does the Snowkite Season start at Haugastøl, and how long does it last?
We offer accomodation from around the end of November, and close for the winter season at the start of May.
